Colour Mirror
See Your Style Reflect the Museum's Palette
Could your skirt and top share a color story with Orsolya Esterhazy's own exhibited attire, or perhaps find a surprising match in a Zsolnay vase? This mirror is ready to compare your wardrobe to art history.
Colour Mirror is an interactive installation designed to enhance the "In the Mood for Colours" exhibition at the Museum of Applied Arts, Budapest. It offers visitors a fun and accessible way to see how their own clothing color choices resonate with the vibrant hues of the museum's exhibits. This digital "mirror" reveals just how colorful you're dressed!
Here's how it works: The Mirror scans your outfit and identifies its dominant colors, creating a personalized color palette. It then searches the exhibition to find the artwork with the most similar color scheme, generating a unique digital card that you can easily send to yourself. This card serves as a personalized memento, showcasing the visitor's color palette silhouette alongside the image and description of the matching artwork, thus offering an engaging way to learn about the exhibits.
Beyond individual reflections, Colour Mirror also gathers anonymous data from all visitors. This collective information is used to create visualizations that reveal the most popular colors worn by the public during specific time periods, as well as identify the single most colorful visitor.
